The use of LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® within Higher Education

If you have been following us on LinkedIn or roaming our website, you might have noticed our new online LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® certification for Higher Education. This is a new certification that our CEO, Micael Buckle, has developed in cooperation with Professor Alison James.

The Higher Education certification focuses on the use of LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® (LSP) in an educational context. The certification enables you to provide an alternative to traditional blackboard teachings. It offers a creative way of teaching which engages students and helps those who have difficulties with standardized ways of learning by offering more practical hands-on methods.

Furthermore, you will learn how to examine and improve administrative work processes as well as to facilitate workshops at your own or other institutions.

The certification is relevant for teachers, administrators or anyone working within an educational setting.

As mentioned above, the certification has been developed with Prof. Alison James who is a former director of Academic Development and Quality at the University of Winchester. She is currently researching the use of play in higher education, particularly in relation to teaching management concepts and theories, generously funded by The Imagination Foundation Laboratory. Besides this she is also engaged in coaching, consulting, examining, writing, and speaking.

Prof. Alison James has written a short article about the Higher Education certification which you can read here: https://engagingimagination.com/2022/07/19/lego-serious-play-in-he-new-online-facilitator-training/

Here’s a snippet of the article:

“I am proud to say that Micael Buckle and I have finally launched this brand new LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY®  facilitator training, after brewing up the idea over several years. It was initially sparked at a Brickminds Conference and then what with global pandemics, job changes (me), business commitments (him) and a whole host of other things, it took a while for us to give it shape. Before running it, we road-tested it with wonderful colleagues across a number of institutions who are accredited facilitators in the method. In addition to their great feedback,Micael also discussed it regularly with Professor Johan Roos, cofounder of LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® . We are pleased and delighted that the programme has received his endorsement”.
